Do you need to repair your DVD discs? – Use Automax

What’s LightScribe?

LightScribe is a new Media technology that Hewlett-Packard announced for labeling Blank CD discs and Blank DVD discs without using labels.

How do they work?

LightScribe works by having a special coating on the non-data side so that you can burn to the disc using the same laser used for burning data. LightScribe is currently lightscribe dvd rw discsonly available in greyscale which creates an image in black-and-white although LightScribe DVD & CD are now available in color such as blue, green, red and yellow. Currently you can only produce LightScribe pictures in black and white but there are a variety of brands on the market.

How do I use them?

After you have burnt your data onto your discs, you can just pop it out, flip it over, and use a special LightScribe Media software application to have the drive burn a "silkscreen quality" image of your choice right into the disc.

Where do I get the pictures from?

There are a number of sites that supply software to use to produce your images or download ready made images.

Why is this better than labels?

This solution may offer more safety than labels that can come unglued, or inks that may penetrate the Blank media and damage data.

Will they have larger capacity discs in LightScribe brands?

Yes one of the leading manufacturers of LightScribe has developed a new Dual layer disc that will hold 8.5GBs of data and will allow you to burn your images to the top of the disc using the LightScribe technology.

The important benefit of all is that you will be able lead a much healthier life. Good health is what everyone really wants and a sensible, low-carbohydrate diet will help you to get it.

The "simple" LightScribe software for Linux isn’t the greatest. It takes me about 20 to 30 minutes to label a disc (CD or DVD). I have a template that I created in Gimp which I use to make PNG files to import into the labeling software.
